The Andhra Pradesh government sanctioned ₹12.05 lakh for renovation of writer and poet Gurajda Appa Rao’s house located near Vizianagaram Fort. The Roads and Buildings and Municipal authorities have taken the initiative for improvement of facilities and enhancement of the height of the compound wall of the heritage structure.

A few months ago, the poet’s great grandson Gurajda Venkata Prasad and wife Gurajada Indira requested the Minister for MSME Kondapalli Srinivas and Collector S. Ramsundar Reddy to take steps for the improvement of facilities and repair of the house as well as steps for the additional protection for the house which was converted as a museum a few years ago.

Later, the government sanctioned the amount and began the repairs under the supervision of R and B and municipal authorities. Ms. Indira thanked the government for taking the initiative for the repairs of the house. She has also requested to construct an auditorium adjacent to the heritage structure to enable writers and poets to take up literary activities regularly.
