A Division Bench of the Andhra Pradesh High Court headed by Chief Justice Lisa Gill and comprising Justice Ninala Jayasurya had on Monday disposed of a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) filed by U. Jayanthi of Akiveedu in West Godavari district against the construction of Ramalayam in the village, which shot into the news due to a confrontation between local groups over renovation of the shrine and alleged attack on Legislative Assembly Deputy Speaker K. Raghu Ramakrishna Raju during his visit. Appearing for the Secretary of Sri Ramalaya Abhivrudhi Samiti, senior counsel Y.V. Ravi Prasad and advocate P.V.G. Umesh Chandra contended that the site belonged to the Ramalayamsince ages and the same was established by the government revenue records. It was also evident from material related to the Fasli (agriculture year), electricty bills and encumbrance certificates.
