The Tamil Nadu government on Wednesday declined to accept Karnataka’s contention that the surplus water released to T.N. during 2025-26 should be taken into consideration for the monthly schedule. The T.N. government made its point in the 50th meeting of the Cauvery Water Management Authority (CWMA) on Wednesday. While 174.500 tmc was due to be released by Karnataka to Tamil Nadu at Billigundlu between June 1, 2025 and April 27, 2026, the quantum realized in T.N., including the surplus water was 326.945 tmc. Pointing this out, Karnataka requested to include the surplus in the monthly schedule.
