Conservationists have welcomed the Madras High Court’s direction to close the Kalhatti Ghat Road for tourist traffic. The road, which serves as a key link to the Mudumalai Tiger Reserve (MTR) from Udhagamandalam, has gained popularity over the last few years among motorists, leading to increased pressures on the tiger reserve in the form of vehicular traffic.
