Normal life was thrown out of gear across parts of Central Travancore on Tuesday as a hartal demanding justice in the death of dental student Nithin Raj witnessed a widespread shutdown and, in several places, tense moments. The hartal, organised under an action council of Dalit organisations, also received support from political outfits such as SUCI, SDPI and the Welfare Party, while a faction of KPMS stayed away.
