Delta farmers plea to officials

Delta farmers have urged the Agriculture Engineering Department (AED) to expedite desilting of minor distributary and field irrigation canals.

In separate statements issued recently, Tamil Nadu Cauvery Farmers Protection Association secretary Sundara Vimalanathan and Coordination Committee of All Farmers Associations of Tamil Nadu president P. R. Pandian pointed out that administrative sanctions had been issued by the State government for taking up desilting of irrigation canals.
