The Madras High Court on Tuesday (April 28, 2026) quashed an Enforcement Case Information Report (ECIR) registered by the Directorate of Enforcement (ED) in 2020 against Rural Development Minister I. Periyasamy since a case related to predicate offence had already been quashed by the court. First Division Bench of Chief Justice Sushrut Arvind Dharmadhikari and Justice G. Arul Murugan allowed a petition filed by the Minister and quashed the ECIR registered for alleged offences under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act of 2002 on the basis of an irregular allotment of housing plots case.
