Three councillors of Coimbatore Corporation — two from the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK)and one from the Communist Party of India — have quit their parties, with the two DMK members having joined the All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) earlier this month.

The DMK councillors, S. Rajalakshmi (Ward 77) and M. Rajendran (Ward 91), cited issues with district leadership for their exit. CPI councillor D. Mohan (Ward 53) will function as an independent.
