Chandrababu Naidu on Monday (April 27, 2026) directed officials to bring down the State’s power purchase cost to ₹4.60 a unit by the end of the year, and called for higher renewable energy generation and technology-driven reforms in the power sector. Reviewing the Energy Department at the Chief Minister’s camp office, Mr. Naidu took stock of summer power supply, procurement plans for 2026-27, and the rollout of central schemes such as PM Surya Ghar and PM Kusum. Officials said the State’s daily power demand in summer was estimated at 275 to 285 million units, and that total consumption this month had reached 6,397 million units, about 14% higher than the same period last year because of higher industrial and seasonal demand.
