State funding for pension expenditure of universities hiked to 70%, says Minister

Minister for Higher Education M.C. Sudhakar has said that to address the issue of rising pension liabilities on State universities, the State government has increased its funding support towards pension to 70% from 50%.

Speaking at the 75th annual convocation of Karnatak University in Dharwad on Thursday, Dr. Sudhakar said that to decrease the burden on the university a revised arrangement has been made under which the State government will bear 70% of the pension expenditure and the universities will have to mobilise the remaining 30% through internal resources.
