Giri A round-table meeting of women’s organisations here on Wednesday called for the immediate implementation of 33% reservation for women in legislatures without linking it to census or delimitation conditions. The meeting, organised by the Women’s Joint Action Forum, strongly criticised the Union government led by Narendra Modi and accused the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) of using the Women’s Reservation Bill for political gain. The meeting was presided over by State General Secretary of the Andhra Pradesh Mahila Samakhya general secretary P. Durgabhavani and All India Democratic Women’s Association State secretary Savitri. Speakers alleged that the BJP government was deliberately delaying implementation despite the Bill being passed in 2023.
