The Kerala State Commission for Protection of Child Rights has directed the General Education Principal Secretary to take steps to frame legislation regulating the use of mobile phones and screens by children up to the age of 18. The Commission emphasised the need for the government to establish laws setting age limits and controlling screen time among children.

The Kerala State Commission for Protection of Child Rights has directed the General Education Principal Secretary to take steps to frame legislation for regulating the use of mobile phone and screens by children up to the age of 18. A high-level committee comprising Principal Secretaries and Secretaries of various departments and the State Police Chief has been proposed to take forward this initiative. It is imperative that the government draw up laws on age limits regulating screen time of children, the Commission said.
