Thiruvananthapuram Mayor V.V. Rajesh on Wednesday (April 22, 2026) demanded that action be taken against the police officers who allegedly resorted to violence during a protest march taken out by women councillors of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) to the Vattiyurkavu police station on Tuesday. The women councillors had taken out the march demanding action against police officers who allegedly tortured the party workers after they were arrested over the violence at Nettayam in Thiruvananthapuram on Sunday. Mr. Rajesh also alleged that the water cannon used to disperse the BJP workers was filled with muddy water.
