Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan on Tuesday directed the entire government machinery to be prepared to ensure timely medical care to those injured in the fire and explosion at a fireworks manufacturing unit at Mundathikode near Thrissur that left at least 13 people dead. If necessary, the services of expert doctors from hospitals outside the State will be used to provide advanced treatment to the burn victims. Mr. Vijayan expressed his condolences at the deaths caused by the explosion. A dedicated system has been put in place to closely monitor and coordinate the efforts of Police, Fire and Rescue, Health, Revenue and Disaster Management departments. The State Disaster Management department has allocated ₹50 lakh to the Thrissur District Collector to meet the emergency needs after the accident.
