A month-long knee replacement awareness programme was launched in Vizianagaram on Tuesday. D. Ramesh, managing director Queens NRI Hospital said that knee replacement surgeries have now become affordable with the significant reduction in the cost of implants. Speaking to media, he said with implants available at reasonable prices, people from the poor and lower middle class sections also have access to knee replacement surgeries. Mr. Ramesh said; “Quality implants costing between ₹2 to ₹3 lakh that earlier are now available at ₹50,000, enabling patients to buy them easily. He added that the hospital as part of its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) had fixed very nominal charges for operations. Senior orthopaedic doctor B.
