Residents of Thalamalai village in Thalavadi hills staged a road blockade on Tuesday morning (April 21, 2026), demanding regular supply of drinking water. Over 200 families reside in the village and have been facing irregular water supply for the past few days. With the onset of summer and rising temperatures, the demand for water has increased, aggravating the situation. The residents alleged that the shortage had worsened due to power cuts, which prevented them from drawing water using motor pumps. Despite bringing the issue to the notice of officials, no remedial measures were taken, they said.
