District Collector Dr. A. Siri on Monday (April 20, 2026) stressed that awareness is key to prevention of fire accidents. Marking the last day of the Fire Services Week celebrations, Ms. Siri inspected the fire-fighting equipment exhibition organised by the Fire Services Department on Monday. Speaking on the occasion, she said awareness programmes were conducted across the district by the Fire Services Department throughout the Fire Services Week, observed from April 14 to 20. These programmes were organised under the central theme, “Safe School, Safe Hospital and Fire Safety Society–Together for Fire Prevention,” with an aim to create awareness regarding fire safety among people from all walks of life.
