Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu accused the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) and the Indian National Congress of betraying women by resisting the Women’s Reservation Bill, asserting that their opposition had stalled progress toward implementing reservations as early as the 2029 general elections.

Addressing a media conference in Coimbatore during his election campaign on Monday, Mr. Naidu launched a tirade against opposition parties, alleging that their stance on both the Women’s Reservation Bill and the proposed delimitation reforms had harmed the interests of women and southern States. The measures, introduced under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, were intended to enhance political representation and ensure balanced development, he said, and argued that by blocking the Bill, the Opposition had not politically defeated the ruling alliance but had instead disadvantaged women across the country.
