Liquor outlets and bars in Coimbatore and Tiruppur districts will remain closed in view of the Tamil Nadu Assembly elections scheduled on April 23, 2026. In Coimbatore, District Collector Pavankumar G. Giriyappanavar said all government-run liquor retail shops, bars attached to them, and licensed premises holding FL2 to FL11 permits (except FL6) will be shut from 10 a.m. on April 21 until midnight on April 23. The outlets will also remain closed on May 4, the day of counting, which has been declared a dry day.
