Raghavendra has said that the Congress party and its other allies lost the moral right to speak of women’s freedom and equal rights for women after opposing the amendment to the Constitution that proposed to ensure 33% reservation for women in Parliament. In a press conference in Shivamogga on April 20, Mr. Raghavendra said that the constitution amendment bill required a two-thirds majority in Parliament. However, the Congress, DMK, TMC and other parties opposed the Bill. With that, they lost a historic opportunity to ensure reservation for women and committed grave injustice to the women folk of the country.
