Residents of Ramanna Gounder Nagar at Maniakarampalayam in Coimbatore city announced on Friday that they will boycott the Assembly elections this year as their demand for housing pattas has not been met.

K. Maniraj, a resident of that area, said the residents are waiting for pattas for 30 years. There are 50 houses in the layout. “We applied and got all the housing sites approved under a special scheme of the Tamil Nadu government. We have paid property tax, water tax, garbage tax, and so on regularly. We are unable to get pattas for our sites though we have represented to the government and the local body and the officials several times. We gave petitions to the government at the Makkaludan Mudhalvar and the Ungaludan Stalin camps too,” he said. The residents are unable to get the TSLR, he added.
