The accused transferred gas from filled cylinders into empty ones and sold at higher rates The Delhi Police Crime Branch uncovered illegal LPG hoarding and refilling activities in south and north-west Delhi, seizing 125 cylinders and arresting three delivery agents. In the first case, the Crime Branch (Central Range) raided a premises in Sangam Vihar on Sunday and seized 68 cylinders, including 36 filled cylinders, 29 empty cylinders and three cylinders with broken seals. Two delivery agents, Deepak (37) and Shyam (45), were arrested in connection with the case. According to the police, both were associated with an authorised gas agency. They allegedly diverted cylinders meant for delivery and stored them at a house. They then extracted small quantities of gas, around 1-2 kg, from filled cylinders using a motorised setup and transferred it into empty cylinders for sale in the open market at inflated rates. Equipment, including a refilling motor and a weighing scale, was seized. In a separate operation, the Crime Branch (NR-1) raided a premises in Rohini on Saturday and recovered 57 cylinders. Lokpal (55), a delivery agent linked to an authorised LPG distributor, was apprehended near a gas agency in Sector 22, Rohini. Investigators said Lokpal withheld deliveries and stored cylinders in his vehicle. He allegedly refilled gas from filled cylinders into empty ones and sold them at inflated rates. A pickup vehicle, a weighing scale and gas transfer equipment were recovered. The accused in both cases were booked under provisions of the Essential Commodities Act and the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
