Kerala ignores proposal for Ombudsman for students of self-financing institutions

Nine years after a proposal to form Ombudsmen to address the grievances of students of self-financing institutions, successive governments have ignored the proposal, leaving hundreds of students vulnerable to harassment.

The death of R.L. Nithin Raj, a student of Kannur Dental College, Anjarakandy, last week following alleged harassment by faculty members, has brought the issue back to focus.
