The Tamil Nadu government has urged the Madras High Court to stay its February 20, 2026 order directing the Directorate of Vigilance and Anti-Corruption (DVAC) to register a First Information Report (FIR) forthwith regarding a massive cash for jobs allegation in the Municipal Administration and Water Supply department led by Minister K.N. Nehru.

The stay petition, filed along with a review plea, has been listed for hearing before the first Division Bench of Chief Justice Sushrut Arvind Dharmadhikari and Justice G. Arul Murugan on Monday (April 20, 2026). However, the judges may adjourn the hearing by a day or two since Advocate General P.S. Raman had informed the court about his unavailability on Monday.
