The Communist Party of India (CPI) national secretary K. Ramakrishna has strongly criticised Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah, alleging that their decisions are undermining democratic principles and weakening the federal structure of the country. Addressing a press conference here on Sunday, Mr. Ramakrishna accused the Union government of using the Women’s Reservation Bill for political gain by linking it with the proposed delimitation exercise. He said the Opposition was not against the Bill itself, recalling that it had already been passed in 2023 with broad support, but objected to its linkage with delimitation and census-related conditions.
