SRINATH If it was not for certain “top leaders” of the Congress, the alliance between the party and the DMK would have ended and it would have forged a new partnership with the newly launched Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK), according to D. Selvam, the TVK’s Chepauk-Tiruvallikeni candidate. Mr. Selvam, who was a general secretary of the Tamil Nadu Congress Committee, was suspended from the party on March 25 for endorsing an alliance with the TVK. He joined the TVK barely two days before the fledgling party released its candidates list on March 29. He was selected as the TVK’s candidate for the Chepauk-Tiruvallikeni constituency to take on Deputy Chief Minister Udhayanidhi Stalin.
