The Belagavi district administration has completed the acquisition of around 1,200 acres of land for the Belagavi-Dharwad railway line via Kittur.

The 73-km line, aimed at speeding up train travel between the three cities of Belagavi, Dharwad, and Hubballi, was planned by Suresh Angadi, former Minister of State for Railways. The project requires 1,436 acres of land. Nearly 90% of the land lies in Belagavi district. Land acquisition in Dharwad is also nearly complete, official sources said.
