Public hospitals in the State are feeling the pinch yet again as the health insurance claim reimbursements due to hospitals for providing free treatment to people under the Karunya Arogya Suraksha Padhati (KASP) now stands between ₹1,500-₹1,600 crore, a liability that has been a constant ever since KASP was re-launched in the trust mode in 2021-22. The total money that the government owes hospitals, both public and private, under KASP and various other health financing schemes like Karunya Benevolent Scheme, Arogyakiranam, etc. would run into ₹1,824 crore.
