IIT Palakkad expands academic, research initiatives

Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Palakkad has launched several new academic and research initiatives to strengthen its technological capabilities and expand opportunities in emerging areas of science and engineering.

Leading the developments is the establishment of the Department of Materials and Metallurgical Engineering, aimed at addressing the growing demand for expertise in advanced materials across sectors such as energy, aerospace, defence, and healthcare. The department is expected to serve as a hub for specialised research and innovation while promoting interdisciplinary collaboration.
