Describing the Delimitation Bill introduced in Parliament as a “historic corrective” aimed at ensuring balanced representation across the country, TDP State president Palla Srinivasa Rao on Thursday dismissed apprehensions that the proposed exercise would disadvantage southern States, terming such claims as “misplaced and not borne out by facts.” Explaining the contours of the proposed reform, Mr. Srinivasa Rao noted that the Bill departs from a strict population-based approach, benefitting Southern State on uniform basis. This effectively addresses concerns of regional imbalance and ensures that no State is left at a disadvantage in the evolving parliamentary framework.
