The indefinite day-and-night strike by nurses in private hospitals in Kozhikode city seeking pay hike and other benefits was called off on Monday night (April 13). According to sources, this followed discussions between functionaries of the United Nurses Association (UNA) and representatives of the management of Baby Memorial Hospital (BMH) Group on Monday night. UNA leaders later told the media that the strike at the three hospitals under the group, two in Kozhikode city, and one in Vadakara, would be withdrawn. The starting salary of nurses in BMH will be ₹36,000, and in Meitra Hospital, it will be ₹37,000, they said.
