Five-time Congress MP and former leader of the party in the Lok Sabha Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury is contesting the West Bengal Assembly elections 2026 from Baharampur constituency. Mr. Chowdhury, who lost to Yusuf Pathan of the All India Trinamool Congress in 2024, claims that the party is trying the same tricks of communal polarisation to defeat him in this election. The Congress leader says there is no difference between the politics of Mamata Banerjee and Narendra Modi, and that the special intensive revision (SIR) is an unprecedented attack on the electorate of West Bengal.
