Union Minister of State for Parliamentary Affairs L. Murugan and the BJP Tamil Nadu president Nainar Nagenthran on Friday launched a drive to seek public opinion for drafting the party’s manifesto for the coming Assembly election. Billed as ‘Makkalukkaga Makkalidamirundhu’ (for the people, from the people), the BJP’s manifesto will be drafted by a 13-member committee led by senior leader Tamilisai Soundararajan. The leaders launched the drive by placing suggestion boxes and flagged off vehicles that will tour Assembly constituencies to elicit opinions from the public. Dr. Soundararajan, BJP national in-charge for Tamil Nadu Aravind Menon, and senior party leaders were present. In a post on X, Mr. Nagenthran alleged that the law and order situation in the State had worsened under DMK rule. “Is there any law and order in the State or was it buried? There is no safety in the State capital and even in rural areas,” he said, referring to the incident in which a farmer was set on fire by a gang in Cuddalore.
