Notice issued after children wash plates in gutter water in Bagalkot

Education Department officials have issued a notice to a headmaster of a government school in Alabal of Bagalkot district after schoolchildren cleaned plates in gutter water.

Images and videos of the incident were shared on social media widely.

Block Education Officer Ashok Basannanavar told reporters in Jamkhandi of Bagalkot on Friday that a preliminary inquiry has found that the incident was true.

The school has water supply connection.

A show-cause notice has thus been issued to the headmaster asking why the children were asked to clean plates in dirty water outside the school.

If the school needs water supply or other facilities, it will be provided, he said.
