The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) has taken a touching initiative to fill dreams in the eyes of children of its sanitation workers by organising a trip for them to the Indian Institute of Technology-Hyderabad.

For the first time, these young students will embark on a specially curated exposure visit to the IIT Hyderabad campus on January 31, between 10.30 a.m. and 4.30 p.m., a statement from GHMC informed.

The programme is being organised in collaboration with the E-Cell at IIT Hyderabad, with special arrangements for transportation, food, safety, and mentoring support — ensuring that every child feels welcomed, valued, and encouraged.

The trip, open to children from classes VI to X, is not a simple campus tour, but designed to to ignite ambition, broaden horizons, and inspire the children, the note said, attributing it to GHMC Commissioner R.V. Karnan.

A total 180 students have been selected for the trip, three students from each circle. They will be transported to IIT-H in six buses, after being picked up from 12 points in the city, including the GHMC head office.

Mr. Karnan directed officials to ensure the success of this initiative, which will includes interactive sessions with IIT faculty and students, visits to academic buildings, libraries, and innovation centres, as well as motivational programmes tailored to spark curiosity and confidence. For many participants, this will be their first-ever experience of a world-class institution, the note said.
