The Coimbatore City Police have announced traffic diversions and vehicle restrictions to the convenience of devotees visiting the Subramaniaswamy temple at Marudhamalai for Thai Poosam festival from January 31 to February 2. Two-wheelers and four-wheelers will not be permitted to the hill-shrine. Devotees should park their vehicles at designated locations at the foothills and utilise the Devasthanam buses or the steps to reach the temple. Devotees can park their four-wheelers near Bharathiar University residential complex premises, Government Law College grounds, Indira Nagar, Kumaran hall, Pothigai, pillar parking, Thailakkadu parking (bridge side) and near Valliyamman temple. Two-wheelers can be parked at the backside of CTC bus stand and at Thailakadu. A temporary bus stand will operate on the premises of Bharathiar University’s distance education section (gate-II). All government and private buses must enter via gate-II to drop off and pick up passengers. Traffic Diversions The following traffic diversions will be effective from 8 a.m. on January 31 to 6 a.m. on February 2. All vehicles, including private and government buses that used to proceed to Marudhamalai via Lawley Road, TNAU, P.N. Pudur and Mullai Nagar, must take a left turn at the Vadavalli-Thondamuthur Road junction. These vehicles should proceed further via Maharani Avenue, Chinmaya Vidyalaya and Arun Nagar, Anjanur junction, Bommanampalayam Road and Kalveerampalayam to reach Marudhamalai. Vehicles from Edayarpalayam and Kanuvai reaching the roundabout at Vadavalli must also follow the above route by taking a right turn at Thondamuthur Road junction. Vehicles returning from Marudhamalai to the city should pass via Kalveerampalayam junction, Navavoor Pirivu and Vadavalli roundabout to proceed further to their destinations. Light and heavy goods carriers are prohibited to enter Marudhamalai Road via Vadavalli from Lawley Road junction, Edayarpalayam and Thondamuthur from 6 a.m. on January 31 to 10 p.m. on February 2.
