Andhra Pradesh Congress Committee president Y. S. Sharmila on Friday urged district unit presidents and leaders of allied wings to effectively expose the drawbacks of the Viksit Bharat Guarantee for Rozgar and Ajeevika Mission (Gramin) Act, 2025, which has replaced the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme, through the proposed Upadi Haami Parirakshana Yatra (Employment Guarantee Protection Yatra) from February 2. Addressing a review meeting at the party office, Ms. Sharmila said party leaders must educate people about the benefits of MGNREGA and the urgent need to revive the scheme. She informed that the yatra would begin from Bandlapalli in Anantapur district and called upon party leaders and workers to actively participate in the State-wide protest. She said the yatra should clearly explain the harm the new VB G RAM G Act would cause to workers and other stakeholders.
