The VMRDA City Central Park came alive with a sea of colours as the much-awaited flower show, the crown jewel of the Visakha Utsav 2026, opened to the public on Thursday (January 29). The event showcases a breathtaking collection of over 100 varieties of rare and exotic flowers brought in from major hubs like Bengaluru and Kolkata and will remain open until January 31, from 9 a.m to 9 p.m.

State TDP president and Gajuwaka MLA Palla Srinivasa Rao accompanied by Bheemili MLA Ganta Srinivasa Rao inaugurated the event.

A bonsai exhibition and intricate vegetable carvings created by local artists bring uniqueness of the show, said VMRDA chairman M.V. Pranav Gopal.

He shared that this year the authorities went the extra mile to bring in unique species which include orchids, tulips, lilies, carnations, and Bird of Paradise .

The organisers expect thousands of visitors to flock to the park over the next three days. Highlights of the exhibition include massive floral sculptures and theme-based designs.

According to official reports, a total budget of ₹8 crore has been allocated for the entire Visakha Utsav 2026 of which a significant portion has been dedicated to the flower show. .
