The iconic Godavari Express (Train No. 12727/12728), operating between Secunderabad and Visakhapatnam, was awarded the ‘Best Maintained Long-Distance Train Operating Shield’ by South Central Railway (SCR) General Manager Sanjay Kumar Srivastava at the 70th Railway Week celebrations held at Rail Kalarang, New Bhoiguda, on Thursday. The ‘Overall Best Performance Efficiency Shield’ was jointly presented to the Hyderabad and Guntakal divisions, recognising their achievements across multiple operational parameters. Addressing the gathering, Mr. Srivastava called for systemic reforms with time-bound improvements across customer service, maintenance, production, and operations. He stressed the importance of accountability and urged staff to upgrade their skills to match emerging technologies. He reiterated that Indian Railways is committed to continuous modernisation with special emphasis on safety and technological advancement. During the event, the General Manager presented 35 zonal-level efficiency shields to divisions and workshops. Key recognitions included: Secunderabad Division for finance, traction distribution, mechanical, track (shared with Guntakal), civil engineering (shared with Vijayawada), and station cleanliness (shared with Guntur). Hyderabad Division for environmental and housekeeping, signal and telecom, and the GM’s overall efficiency shield (shared with Guntakal). Vijayawada Division for commercial, electrical (general services), HRD, and civil engineering (shared with Secunderabad). Guntakal Division for operations, running room management, elimination of level crossings (shared with Nanded), and grievance redressal, etc. A total of 86 personnel also received individual awards for outstanding performance.
