Students participate in the drawing competition organised by the Forest Department in Thoothukudi on Thursday. | Photo Credit: RAJESH N Thoothukudi forest department organised drawing and slogan writing competitions for school students, to mark the World Wetlands Day celebrated on February 2. The day has been marked to create awareness among the school students about the importance of wetlands, their environmental benefits and the need for their conservation. The competition was held at Subbaiah Vidyalayam Girls Higher Secondary School and was inaugurated by District Forest Officer M. Ilayaraja. Over 100 students from 20 schools across the district participated in the competitions.
