Chief Secretary K. Ramakrishna Rao has directed the Energy department officials to speed up works on renewable energy projects launched across the State, fixing a timeline for their completion.

Officials are instructed to study the energy related projects that are under implementation in Rajasthan and Gujarat and take steps to emulate them in adopting them in the distribution companies in the State.

The Chief Secretary gave the directions during a meeting with senior officials to review the functioning of energy, IT and other departments here on Thursday. The meeting was attended by officials of IT, Health, Mining, Irrigation, Municipal Administration and other departments.

Mr. Ramakrishna Rao wanted officials to take steps to ensure that there was no interruption in power supply to any section. Officials should review the status of ongoing works in the northern and southern power distribution companies and ensure that planning was in accordance with the emerging needs in future. Officials explained to the Chief Secretary about e-governance measures, progress of underground cabling, targets set for Vision 2047 and other projects.

The Chief Secretary reviewed the progress of ongoing works pertaining to super speciality hospitals in Alwal, Sanatnagar, LB Nagar, New Osmania Hospital complex and expansion of NIMS. He enquired about the services that were made available to patients, equipment and infrastructure in these institutions, availability of medicines and staff related issues. He wanted steps to improve the services from time to time as well as continuous monitoring of the functioning of the health services institutions besides ensuring quality medicare to people in rural and remote areas. Officials concerned were warned against adopting negligent attitude in the pursuit of achieving the goals set by the Government while Mr. Ramakrishna Rao instructed them to expedite construction of the hospitals taken up in the GHMC limits.

On IT, Industries, Mining and infrastructure, he enquired about the ongoing projects especially digital governance, steps for attracting investments in IT sector, startup ecosystem, cyber security and extension of T-Fibre services to all the 12,751 villages across the State. Officials were directed to take concrete steps to ensure that the competitiveness of the State in IT sector improved. In addition, steps should be taken to create a congenial atmosphere for investors so that the job potential rises.

The Chief Secretary stressed the need for leveraging technology to reach out government services to people online and this could be possible with effective coordination between the departments. Officials could consider designing an application through WhatsApp in addition to taking steps to enhance availability of Mee Seva centres to the common people.

On the mining sector, he wanted officials to set up CCTV camera network in sand reaches and explained about the recent reforms initiated in the department. The meeting also reviewed the progress of works pertaining to Bharat Future City and the projects taken up by the Industrial Infrastructure Corporation.
