All welfare schemes in Puducherry have been implemented on schedule since the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) government assumed office in 2021, Minister for Home and Education A. Namassivayam said on Sunday. Addressing a gathering in Karaikal, Mr. Namassivayam said Prime Minister Narendra Modi had been formulating and implementing schemes for the benefit of all sections of society. He criticised the previous Congress government, led by V. Narayanasamy between 2016 and 2021, alleging that it failed to implement even a single major scheme on time. Highlighting the achievements of the NDA government since 2021, the Minister said pension amount, including old-age assistance, had been increased and the free rice distribution scheme, which had earlier been discontinued, was restored. Vacancies in government departments, some of which had remained unfilled for nearly 15 years, were filled in a transparent manner without corruption. Describing the NDA administration under Chief Minister N. Rangasamy as a “stable and efficient government,” Mr. Namassivayam said Puducherry, being a Union Territory, depended heavily on the Centre. Development projects could be brought in only when the same alliance was in power both the Centre and the Union Territory, he said. Calling upon the voters to reflect on these issues, Mr. Namassivayam said only the return of an NDA government would ensure uninterrupted delivery of welfare schemes to the people of Puducherry.
