In the Chandrayaan-4 mission, the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) aims for further understanding of the moon through in-situ samples, P Veeramuthuvel, director, Directorate of Special Projects, ISRO said here on Friday. While speaking at the 12th convocation ceremony of Tamil Nadu Teachers Education University, he said the technological leap and scientific progress made by the Chandrayaan series continues with the Chandrayaan-4 mission. “We landed [on the moon] in the Chandrayaan-3 mission; now in the Chandrayaan-4 we want to bring the samples back to the earth,” he said. Working towards Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of Viksit Bharat by 2047, ISRO has already started work on the Bharatiya Antariksh Station (BAS), he said. “This would be our own space station where students of the future will be able to conduct experiments and discover exciting new sciences,” he added. Governor and Chancellor, Tamil Nadu Teachers Education University R.N. Ravi awarded the degrees. A total of 77,022 graduates were bestowed with degrees. Of this, 119 received the degrees in-person and the remaining 76,903 in-absentia respectively. 62 meritorious graduates were given gold medals and cash prizes. Higher Education Secretary P. Shankar and convener of Vice-Chancellor Convenor Committee of Tamil Nadu Teachers Education University said that at the time of the inception of the university, there were only 491 colleges of education affiliated with the university but today it has increased to 664. Higher Education Minister Govi Chezhiaan was not present during the occasion.
