The TDP-JSP-BJP alliance should remain intact for 15 years in Andhra Pradesh, says Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu. | Photo Credit: File Photo Criticising the YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) for remaining absent in the Legislative Assembly continuously, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu has said it is the people who decide on the opposition party status and not the ruling party. “Boycotting the sessions is nothing but shirking their responsibility to raise public issues in the House,” Mr. Naidu said while speaking on the A.P. Appropriation Bills, 2026 in the Assembly on Friday. He urged the elected representatives of TDP, Jana Sena Party (JSP) and BJP to work together to ensure that their alliance remained strong for the next 15 years so that the State would make the most of continuity of the governance. Mr. Naidu said the MLAs should behave properly and discharge their duties to the best of their abilities. He noted that the alliance could not afford to lose its credibility. “The government has achieved quite a lot in the last 20 months. However, the road ahead is still not smooth enough to relax,” he observed, while stating that the government was grappling with the financial crisis caused by the YSRCP government’s policies. The government got a budget of ₹3.32 lakh crore approved in the Assembly, but a concerted effort is needed to spend every single rupee judiciously, the Chief Minister said. Mr. Naidu informed the House that the government had successfully rescheduled loans amounting to nearly ₹43,300 crore and that plans were made to negotiate the terms of repayment of another ₹1 lakh crore. He said the Polavaram project would be completed before the Godavari Pushkarams and that the works in Amaravati had gained momentum. The Ministers, MLCs and MLCs would be in a position to occupy their residential quarters in Amaravati by the next session of the State Legislature, he said. The Chief Minister went on to highlight the investments that were mobilised by the coalition government since June 2024 and the efforts made by it for the protection of Visakhapatnam Steel Plant (VSP) amid a vicious propaganda that the PSU was being privatised. Focus has been laid on the maintenance of law and order. He accused the YSRCP of conspiring to destroy the sanctity of Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD). It was evident from the adulteration of the ghee used in making the Laddu Prasadam, unfortunately, the YSRCP did not apologise to the public, despite the solid evidence of the wrongdoing of its leaders and those who were at the helm in the TTD during that party’s reign, Mr. Naidu added.
