YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) leader and former Minister Ambati Rambabu was released on bail from the Rajahmundry Central Prison on Wednesday evening following a court in Guntur granting him bail in the alleged illegal lottery case registered against him at Sattenapalli in 2023.

He served 17-day remand period in connection with this and another case pertaining to the alleged verbal abuse of Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu and obstruction of police personnel from discharging their duty during a protest in Guntur on January 31.

He was arrested on that day amid tense situation that prevailed at his house after it was allegedly attacked by the TDP supporters in Guntur city.

Speaking to newsmen after his release, Mr. Rambabu said, “Mr. Naidu and his son Nara Lokesh had orchestrated the attack on my house and family in Guntur on January 31. The police personnel present remained spectators without preventing the attackers.”

Mr. Rambabu said he would continue to question the policies of the government.

“I did not expect any special treatment in prison and served the remand period without any complaints about the facilities. I will speak about the protest and attack on my house and family in the days to come,” he said.

Mr. Rambabu was received by former Ministers Ch. Venugopala Krishna and Thaneti Vanitha, and MLAs Jakkampudi Raja and Chirla Jaggireddy.
