A YSRCP delegation, led by its parliamentary party leader Y.V. Subba Reddy, met Vice-President and Rajya Sabha Chairman C.P. Radhakrishnan in New Delhi on Friday and raised concern over “denial of adequate speaking time” in the House during the discussion on the Andhra Pradesh Reorganisation (Amendment) Bill, 2026, that was aimed at recognising Amaravati as the sole and permanent capital of Andhra Pradesh.

Later addressing the media, Mr. Subba Reddy said, despite having seven MPs, the YSRCP had been given only five minutes to speak during the discussion on Thursday and their microphones cut midway. “This is an attempt to suppress the party’s voice,” he said, and pointed out that parties with fewer members such as the BRS and TDP were given more time. The BRS members were given around 10 minutes each, he said, adding that they sought a fair opportunity for all the parties in Parliament.

The Chairman responded positively and assured that the remaining part of their speech would be taken on record, Mr. Subba Reddy said.

“The YSRCP is not against Amaravati, but opposes the Bill. Nearly 50,000 acres have been taken from about 29,000 farmers. Justice for them must be clearly included in the Bill,” he said, and alleged corruption and exploitation in the name of construction of Amaravati, with costs going up to ₹14,000 per square foot, which he called “excessive and misuse of public money.”

The delegation also raised concern over showing the TDP leaders seated in the Rajya Sabha gallery on the television and demanded an inquiry into it.

The delegation included P.V. Midhun Reddy, Ayodhya Rami Reddy, M. Gurumoorthy and Golla Babu Rao.
