The Greater Chennai City Police arrested YouTuber ‘Savukku’ Shankar alias A. Shankar in Andhra Pradesh, who had been repeatedly challenging the police on social media to arrest him. He was earlier arrested on December 13, 2025, based on FIRs registered by the Saidapet and Adambakkam Police Stations in connection with alleged extortion cases. Subsequently, his mother, A. Kamala, filed a habeas corpus petition and another petition seeking specialised medical treatment for his health ailments, including cardiac complications.
