Deputy Commissioner of Transport and Senior Regional Transport Officer Murugendra Basavaraj Shirolkar on Wednesday said youth should guard against getting addicted to narcotic drugs, emphasising that such addiction can ruin their lives.

Speaking at a drug awareness programme, held jointly by the Transport Department and Mangaluru city police, at the Karnataka Polytechnic, Mr. Shirolkar stated that drug peddlers target college students. He emphasised that if students become addicted to narcotic substances, it can be challenging to break free from that addiction. He urged students to exercise caution to avoid falling prey to drug peddlers.
