A 27-year-old man ended his life at his residence in Choutuppal on Tuesday allegedly due to mounting financial distress caused by online betting losses. The deceased was identified as Pavan Kumar, who ran a cattle feed business in Choutuppal. According to the police, he developed a habit of online betting over the past few years. He had earlier fallen into debt due to betting-related losses. After his family became aware of the situation, his father cleared the outstanding loans and warned him against returning to betting activities. However, Pavan allegedly continued betting and again incurred losses, pushing him into fresh debts. Unable to cope with the renewed financial pressure, he ended his life at his residence at around 12.30 p.m. on Tuesday, when no other family members were present, the police said. Based on a complaint, the Choutuppal police registered a case. (Roshini suicide prevention helpline numbers: 8142020033/44 and 040 66202000/2001.)
