Over 1,000 young voters formed the words ‘Our Vote, Our Voice’ reflecting the slogan ahead of Assembly election in Virudhunagar on Thursday.

Virudhunagar District Election Officer N.O. Sukhaputra was witness to the event where the young voters came together and stood on the ground of VHNSN College to underline the importance of casting the vote as a democratic duty to the people.

This was organised as part of the Systematic Voters’ Education and Electoral Participation programme (SVEEP) meant to educate voter and to spread voter awareness.

The students and the officials also took pledge that as the citizen of India, they repose complete faith on democracy and would uphold the democratic tradition and dignity of free, fair and peaceful election. The students also vouched that they would cast their votes without any fear and inducement in the name of race, caste, classor language.

The students also took out a bicycle rally to create awareness among the people on the importance of casting their votes.

The students also carried placards that read: Voting is our right, We shall vote without taking bribe and We will discharge our democratic duty while going through arterial roads in the town.
